Matt Schreck will be remembered as a man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He had a big heart, a way of making everyone around him feel comfortable, always making people laugh with a joke or story, and a willingness to help without ever expecting anything in return. He was loved by everyone that knew him and became friends with almost every person he met. Matt was larger than life. He talked loud, had a great laugh and an even better smile and we can never forget the sound of his voice when he answered the phone “This is Matt!”.
Matt and Lisa met as neighbors in 2001, and he married the love of his life in 2006. They built a beautiful life together with their daughter Megan and many dogs. They loved spending time in the mountains of Colorado and going to concerts, ranger rides on their property with their dogs running behind or riding shotgun, hanging out at the lake riding jet skis or chilling on a boat with friends fishing, talking and of course laughing.
Few things brought Matt more joy than his dogs, whom he loved with his whole heart. He could be seen rolling on the floor with them wrestling, making them turn their heads while he talked to them about rabbits and goats or just getting them all riled up.
After high school, Matt moved to Lake Powell with his best friend to do launch and recovery of house boats. There, Matt found his passion for operating heavy equipment. He made a life out of running dozers, excavators and any other heavy equipment he could find and he loved pushing dirt and shaping the land. His happy place was out making a location or digging a pond, and he usually had a dog or two with him.
Matt owned two companies, Cyclone Dirt Works, and took over Lease Spraying Service continuing his father’s legacy. He earned the respect from all knowing that he was a hard worker that they could always count on. Matt built more than businesses; he built relationships with his employees and customers, which most became friends, and some became family. Matt leaves behind memories that will be cherished by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
