HAYS - Simon Lunsford and Braden Cox combined to strikeout 17 on a five-hit shutout and the Hays Larks remained undefeated with a 6-0 win over the Gameday Angels Tuesday night at Larks Park.
Lunsford (1-0) struck out 10, allowing three hits and two walks over six innings and picked up the win. Cox fanned seven with one walk and two hits over the final three innings and got the save.
The Larks (8-0, 7-0 RMBL) scored two runs in the first inning on a Dylan LaRue one-out double to left. They added four in the fourth on RBI singles from Brayden Huebner and Ryner Beene. Max Flowers added a two-run single.
Gam two of the three-game series is Wednesday at Larks Park. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. with free admission courtesy of Equity Bank, Freddy's Frozen Custard, Tommy's Express Car Wash and Jammin' Randy.
