Pursuant to Title IX, Trees, Chapter 96 of the City of North Platte Code of Ordinances, every owner of any tree overhanging any street or right-of-way within the city shall prune the branches so that there shall be a clear space of 16 feet above the surface of the street or 8 feet above the surface of the sidewalk.
Beginning December 2, 2025, the City of North Platte Public Service Department will be marking trees with pink ribbon that are not in compliance and will begin pruning those trees on or after January 5, 2026, continuing throughout the year. If you have a tree that is non-compliant and would prefer to bring it into compliance on your own, please contact Tom Tobiasson, Street Department Supervisor, at (308) 535-6700 ext. 2419.
