Closing Sternberg should not be an option.
As an FHSU grad from the 1900s, I find it repulsive that a thought like that would even pop in someone’s mind.
Would it be possible to make it a mandatory elective that everyone who enrolls at FHSU take a paleontology class and the proceeds go to fund Sternberg? Maybe more people would open their eyes to how lucky we are to have such a gem in our backyard.
I always enjoyed the museum between classes when it was on campus and learned a lot about fossils by just being in their presence. Walking from building to building I would start to notice the little fossils and even shark’s teeth in the very building blocks that make up most of the structures on campus. Please find a solution that doesn’t involve a "For sale" sign.
